A very cute DDR-style Flash game with a funny story! See if you can get a ranking of "Queen Lightning Pants" (100%).

I've been too lazy this weekend to finish the angel. Just got to put some highlights in her hair and then I'll be able to print up a sticker... once I've bought a printer. Been looking around and I think it's high time I stopped faffing about and bought a cheap little multifunction. I mean, you can almost get them in cereal boxes these days.

    Artwerk part trois

It's late, and I've got to finish making tomorrow's lunch and get to bed, so I'll be very brief. Here's the current state of affairs:

I've done some work on her wings, but I think I might tinker with them some more. I've also done a bench with her shadow cast across it. I asked lcz128's opinion of it, and he said I should have the wings cast a shadow. I was being lazy by telling myself that they're translucent and magical besides, but I have to admit he's right. After looking at it, I don't think that it'll actually take much work, so I'll give it a go. I still haven't done anything with her hair, but I did play with some ideas for when I get to it.

    Artwerk part deux

I drew a "refined" version of the angel on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, I was impatient and inked it with a permanent marker instead of looking for a fine-liner or brush pen like I should have. Because a the ink in a permanent marker contains loads of solvent, and I was working on water-colour friendly drawing cartridge, the paper soaked up the ink like a thirsty sponge. The result is an almost complete loss of line control. However, since the image is going to be reproduced quite small, I can just clean up some of the nastier bits with GIMP and get away with it.

Below are two more thumbnails (the files I'm working with are about five times the resolution) of how it's going. On the left is the image I drew, pretty much as-is, and on the right is the colouring work-in-progress. As you can see, on my lunch break today I managed to colour and shade all of her skin, and fill in her hair and wings with flat colour, both of which need some more shading/highlights or they'll just be terribly dull. Can't have that ;b

Originally I was going to cut off the sticker somewhere around the top of her hips, and I only drew her full figure to make sure her posture was OK. But frankly her bum has turned out so attractively that I think I'll use the whole figure for the sticker. I wish I'd drawn her legs curled up to her side now. Drat.

    Artwerk

(I'm posting here because it seems silly to use a different site from EVERYONE else; especially after such a long hiatus)

So, I bought a Nintendo DS recently, and I ordered an incredibly sexy matte black cover for it from a guy on eBay. I love the feel of it, but I also want to personalise it. I've been trying to think of some "original" sticker ideas. I'm very big on "original" decoration as opposed to using other people's work. I've had a few ideas, but most of them involved just creating new images of existing things like Phoenix Wright or Tachikomas.

Anyway, I drew some stuff at work today and I like the way it turned out, so I think I'll continue developing this image. I was doing some stylised wings because I saw a funky (motorcycle company?) logo with one wing sticking out of it that I liked, and then I progressed to drawing an angel. Her right wing is completely wrong and has been subjected to a dodgy white-out job to remove her shoulder and a lot of overdraw, and her head isn't turned quite far enough for her eye to be that shape. Despite all that, and the fact that I played with the wing design too much, I still like the general feel of it. Below are images of the two sheets. I love that we can finally use the office multifunction as a scanner over the network.

I haven't really posted to this journal in the past, so you might be surprised to see me pop up on your friends list. Then again I haven't posted to my "regular" journal for a couple of months either, so you might just be surprised to hear from me at all.

Anyway, I just thought I'd drop a line to everyone so that you all know that Max, my cat of the last 13 or so years, has died today. My downstairs neighbours 'phoned me to let me know a few minutes ago, and it appears that he was hit by a car. I'm obviously very sad about it, but not to the weepy, wrist-slashing, emo-licious stage that you might be worrying about; He was getting on a bit (he was about two when Mum & I got him), and I've been prepared for this for a couple of years, although I'd always figured that he'd just pop off one day in a sunny spot somewhere while having a nap. I just hope it wasn't too painful.

    Also, it's my birthday today.

I'm not trying to lay it on thickly or anything, but I'm very big on irony.

I don't know why I've got two in a row, but there you go. And for goodness sake, don;t write my details on that form. It won't help you or anything, it'll just put me on their mailing list. Which I DON'T want, to be clear about it.
